 Vestmark's technology, based on J2EE standards, provides the reliability, security, scalability, extensibility and interoperability required to support mission-critical, real-time financial applications. Our core technology is LiveSpace. LiveSpace provides a distributed computing and collaboration platform which ties together the systems, applications, and people required to support any given business process. Because LiveSpace is built upon a transport agnostic, reliable messaging layer, LiveSpace easily extends across corporate firewalls to coordinate business processes between investment managers, program sponsors, custodians and service providers. LiveSpace includes a set of core services required by any mission-critical, real-time application:
- Real-Time Messaging: real-time synchronization of data and actions.
- Managed Network Transparency: message transport over TCP, HTTP, IP Multicast, and JMS implementations. Includes best path discovery of message delivery.
- Group Management: role-based system and user access control to data and applications. Includes multi-point communication across group members.
- Metadata Repository: provides persistence of application and component state and full archival of messages and application events. Includes support of over 270 document types is complete document search and indexing.
On top of these core services, LiveSpace provides key workflow and integration facilities accessible through a web-based, real-time interaction portal.
LiveSpace provides a distributed workflow application to facilitate the real-time collaboration among multiple systems and end-users. Workflow definitions are configured using XML and are stored within the open Metadata Repository with full workflow versioning support. All workflow tasks are role-based and systems and/or end-users can easily be assigned to a role within any workflow.

LiveSpace can easily integrate with a broad range of applications and data formats. Data translations are specified with familiar, spreadsheet-like syntax. Integrations are compiled into Java components to provide high throughput and scalability. These integration components can then be utilized within any workflow or business process managed by LiveSpace.
LiveSpace can also automate interaction with mainframe systems without modifying or disrupting the host application. Data and logic trapped with internal or external mainframe systems can be exposed as Java services and then utilized by LiveSpace within any workflow or business process.

The LiveSpace Interaction Portal is a web-based application environment which supports any real-time or multi-user application. Data, information and alerts can be "pushed" to the Interaction Portal as updates occur. Portfolio holdings and trading information is now available to portfolio managers, financial advisors and end clients in real-time as appropriate. The Interaction Portal also serves as the real-time monitor for workflows and business processes managed by LiveSpace.
Any component in the Interaction Portal can be co-navigated by two or more users. This is critical to e-wholesaling and client support applications. It is also critical in efficiently resolving exceptions between two or more people, especially when issues arise across different firms (i.e., account opening processes in SMA, reconciliation, and trade settlement).

Vestmark has built several pre-packaged components which can be utilized in new or existing applications. In addition to the components below, existing applications and application components can be added to the Interaction Portal.
- Secure, SEC-compliant instant messaging: instant messages are encrypted and archived.
- Application Sharing: any application, web-based or not, can be accessed by any other user. The host of the application being shared can pass application control to remote users.
- Whiteboard: documents can be displayed, annotated and written-on.
- Shared Spreadsheet: holdings information and account activity can be co-navigated by two or more users. Cell selection, cell editing, scrolling and drill down is synchronized.
- Workflow Monitor: business processes can be monitored by one or more end user in real-time.
- Task List: tasks can be routed, presented and tracked by multiple users.
- Presence Indication: indication when a user is available.
